Although, I had read all of the press in Cream, Hit Parader, and the likes back in early 1979 about Joe Perry leaving
the band, when I saw him on the cover of this one still together with the band, I put all doubts aside, and as Joe might
say, 'Let The Music Do The Talking'!  'No Surprize' starts the ball-a-rollin', and with one of Rock's best lyrics,
certainly hits the spot!  The lovely 'Chiquita' with all of her Tequila, certainly goes down well, one way or the
other...until I saw the video with Jimmy Crespo instead of Joe on ze guitar, at least!  Wannabe!  lol  Now, I had heard
the single, 'Remember (Walking In The Sand)' by 'The Shangri-Las' often enough from my brother, and his Annette
Funicello fantasy flicks with their girl bands.  But, when I heard The Smithers doing this one on the radio before the
album release, well, I was a bit shocked, but some things grow on YOU, and this one does, if YOU let it!  I would rather
actually eat some 'Cheese Cake' then hear the song, but it's not all that bad.  'Three Mile Smile' was certainly topical
in 1979, pre-Tchernobyl meltdown, but it's the riff that hooks YOU in, and followed closely by the great Blues number,
'Reefer-Head Woman' makes them both shine that much more.  On this remaster YOU can compare who does a better job, 'Mr.
Perry' on this one, or 'Mr. Jimmy' on the live version.  'Bone To Bone' adds some much appreciated riff-power afterwards
followed by the excellent cover of 'The Yardbirds' Think About It', even if Joe didn't play the guitar on that one. 
Yes, on some of these tracks he was M.I.A. or missing in action, and that's where the original album ended in silent
tribute to him, and open tribute to Steven's latest addition to his personal family, 'Mia'.  Other than another look at
the 'Come Together b/w Chip Away The Stone' single from 1978, and the aforementioned live cuts from the King Biscuit
Flower Hour performance of the band for their 10th anniversary in 1980, the other remastered bonus tracks are the same
instrumentals already available on 'Pandora's Box', but it's nice to have them all hear in one place, all the same. 
But, whether it was a 'Night In The Ruts' or the spoonerism, 'Right In The Nuts', the crunching guitars on this one kept
most fans around for a few more years, to say the least!  - Rick Wilson, former Rock Radio Journalist with Radio Canale
