Summary
Cat(herine) Balou's family farm is being threatened by the Rail Road. She sends for Kid Shelleen, finding him to be the drunkest gunfighter in the west. When her father is killed by the rail road magnate's gunman, she vowes to fight on. Shelleen manages to ride sideways in several scenes, while minstrels sing the ballad of Cat Ballou in between scenes. (IMDB)

Sinopse:
No Velho Oeste, professorinha vira lenda ao vingar a morte do pai, assassinado a mando de capitalista que quer comprar suas terras. Western cômico com primorosa interpretação dupla de Lee Marvin, como cruel assassino e como pistoleiro bêbado, que lhe valeu o Oscar de melhor ator em 1965
O filme mistura western, comédia e musical. Jane Fonda é Cat Ballou, uma ex-professora transformada em fora-da-lei. A história começa quando ela volta para sua cidadezinha, depois de estudar fora, e fica sabendo que seu pai está sendo ameçado por uma empresa que quer suas terras. Quando ele é assassinado pelo matador Tim Strawn (Lee Marvin), Cat decide buscar vingança e recruta Kid Shelleen (também interpretado por Lee Marvin), homem que já foi um temível pistoleiro, mas que vive o tempo todo bêbado. Nat King Cole e Stubby Kaye aparecem várias vezes no meio do filme usando suas músicas para comentar a história.
Cat Ballou foi um dos primeiros sucessos de Jane Fonda e transformou o ator Lee Marvin em um astro cinematográfico.
O filme é conhecido também por mostrar o famoso Nat King Cole, em um de seus últimos trabalhos como cantor. (Ele narra a história, cantando durante o filme, ao lado de Stubby Kaye, a Balada de Cat Ballou).Nat King Cole morreu de câncer, meses depois de participar do filme, em fevereiro de 1965.)
