The More than Complete DC in Omegapsical Order



Omegapsical order: A term I thought I might have invented meaning reverse alphabetical
order. Turns out it has seen occasional use by others but I get the most hits for it on Google!  For the classics
challenged alpha & beta are the first two letters of the ancient greek alphabet =>Alphabetical. Taking the last
two, going backwards => omega psi => omegapsical. I just like to be different.



This Thirty-Third installment is: Detective Comics



Due to the size of this single title it needs it's own torrent. 



	Possibly (probably) for the first time ever in any torrent, we are STORY COMPLETE for
Detective published to date.  I can’t page through 858 issues to prove it for the actual scans presented
here, but the last of the issues represented previously in my own and other’s torrents by Batman story only
reprints and the like have been replaced by full scans. The last 5 old  issues were scanned about June of this year. 
Ordinarily I would have heralded the event with a first ever complete Detective torrent, but this project made me wait
till today. I hope there are no story pages missing in any of these, but if you catch one let me know. Now these are not
all ctc scans, not that some of you even care about that, but a great many are.





This is in effect my Third Annual Detective
Torrent. Detective has a special place for me as it either the first or second torrent I ever did was a
fill post for someone’s Detective torrent on Demonoid Summer of 2006. It may be a similar fill for Action was my
first but I think it was Detective, then Action. (Both those torrent died when Demonoid went away from November
2007-Spring 2008 ) About a Year and a half after my first upload, in December 2007 I posted this (below) torrent at h33t
which became the home for many of us left wandering and homeless by "The Fall of the Demon" as I like to call
it.  :-). I guess we are experiencing the suicide attempt of the Demonoid admins at the moment. The public story is an
obvious fabrication. Who knows.

Only 13 Issues are completely missing - 139,144,145,151,157,176,178,181,183,187,194,189 & 204. These have never been
scanned. 
Just for you , Darkseid I made a list and searched it twice but still find none of these!. But I do have some new ctc
issues that used to be "Batman Only" from reprints. At least 43 are the Batman story only - in fact those
issues are more that have never been scanned at all. These are scans of reprints of the Batman story from those issues
plus a cover.  I searched individually for every one of the issues I have that are "Batman only". There may be
more I've missed, but I tried!

99 partial reprints, 95 of these are Batman only, 1 is Robotman only.
At least 133 of these issues are flatterman scans and are so marked. At least one is cimmerian32 and is marked. These
are the .. (among the few) … scanners of old books I would take sight unseen.
Scanning and editing modern slick comics and old paper are not the same and these gentlemen know it.




Today we have every issue.



 212 of 858 monthly series issues scans say flatterman (some being joint efforts
such as many flattermann-mazen scans). Yes I am a flatterman fanboy. No offense to other scanners intended. We each have
our personal preferences. I love his work. Cover to cover, high quality stuff of consistent and reasonable size for the
number of pages. And he does a lot of work on old DC titles I care about for personal reading. Not to mention one
inoffensive back-of-the-book scanner tag (unlike some tags I could show you). Another 11 are “Snardermann” a
collaboration between Flatterman and Snard I presume. Snard is another quality cover to cover scanner of old paper, and
of fiche. Another 10 are Snard alone or with others, some paper some fiche. I judge him by the paper ones as should you.
 If the source is bad (dark blurry fiche), no one can get great results. Other fine scans are present from Cimmerian32, 
BlueJeff, GCPDGuy (a prolific Bat-Scanner who alas, is not a cover to cover guy) quite a few without names or tags, and
a host of DCP, SCP and a few Minutemen scanners. (Minutemen don’t normally do CTC scans, so I rarely have them, as
I prefer cover to cover). Thank you all most heartily for your work.





509 are marked CTC. A great many of the rest I have not checked a page count for
so there may be some more. It’s a lot of work to get the raw counts, adjust down for duplicate covers, down for
scanner tags, scanner tributes, etc (some times up 3 or 4), adjust up for joined pages, (watching for those who put the
join AND the singles in), and then see if the total is correct for that issue. The number of pages in Detective
fluctuates quite a bit over time and it’s not a simple downward progression. Many of them came marked as cover to
cover and I don’t dispute that except in rare cases.



In honor of the occasion, I marked the cover month (or equivalent) and year on
all of the regular series. That’s boring and lengthy work. I don’t expect to do that much. ;-) Some of them
don’t have  cover months or even one in the indica but some hasty research gave me that. 



I did my best to find as many larger scans as I could for any scan that came in
under 10mb, adding a number of CTC scans as a result and it least getting a good many up to a decent file size. The
smallest 100 or so are still under 7mb. There is a long period 1980s and 90s where a lot of the scans are story  only
and small for that.  These were mostly canned early in the days of scanning. Scanners make larger files these days . A
typical recent DCP or SCP scan is 15-20mb for cover to cover. 



Thanks as always to Die! Smurf, Die! (in whose honor see South Park Pics below- h33t
torrent posting only) for his help finding some of the issues newly scanned this year and his continued moral and
seeding support. Thanks to the Guys with big shares in DC hubs who had better collections of Detective than me, that I
picked through looking for better scans.

varies. Readability is controversial. I am able to read the worst of them, others declare them worthless and don't even
include them in torrents. I give you these and the reprints, trying to do the best I can.

Detective Comics Early Reprints-Duplicates

	These are provided because many scans of early issues are fiche, of poor originals, or both (no criticism of the
scanner, they do their best with what they have to work with) These scans of reprints  are clear and easy to read. Fiche
is nearly always dark, sometimes very dark. and frequently somewhat blurry (but not always). Of course if you are old
enough to remember what comics published on the cheaper non-white paper of the past actually looked like when new, the
colors of the reprints are distorted too. They were never that bright and of course the background was not white so the
whole effect is different. Give me a paper scan of the old comics by someone who understands NOT to brighten it in
Photoshop till the paper is white (because it never was). I have seen too many scans that are so over whitened that the
colors  are washed out and the text is faded.

	One of the best scanners of old paper is a guy who calls himself Flattermann. Detective (and Batman to come) are among
the titles he has put a lot of work into.

Two special items are in the above un-published art intended for Detective.



Item one (Bill Sienkiewicz-David Lapham unpublished pages) is described by the uploader I got it from as follows

It appears that Bill Sienkiewicz was at one point slated to do art for
David Lapham's run on Detective, possibly when City of Crime concluded.  However, after a short Zsasz story, that book
made the OYL jump under James Robinson and then Paul Dini.  Whatever this project was, it never came about, and we're
left with some gorgeous pages by Sienkiewicz.




Item two (Unpublished Man-Bat story art) is described by the source for that

Chuck Dixon saved what he believed to be his finest work during his
Detective Comics run for what he had planned to be his last story, a two-parter centering on Man-Bat.  A new
psychotherapist comes to work at Arkham, and after detailed psychological evaluations of each inmate, she determines
that the key to solving Gotham's supercrime problem is capturing Batman.  However, she mistakenly captures Man-Bat, and
chaos at Arkham ensues.
The story was pushed back over and over again to make room for Cataclysm, and then The Road to No Man's Land, and then
No Man's Land, until Dixon wasn't even writing the book anymore.  It was briefly kicked around as a possible Prestige
one-shot, but that also fell through.  Dixon's dream artist for the project, Brian Stelfreeze, finished some simple
layout drawings (each page done on a quarter-sheet of typing paper!) and also finished pencilling three pages.  This
artwork is collected in this upload
