Plot:
After "seven years, three months and one week" is absent, Detective Bill Skims (Hill) back to Miami from Washington's
airport and waiting for her colleague Mike (Hagler.) By car, the two are attacked by an armed gang, but remain unharmed,
and fell in pursuit of the attackers, with some able to capture a catastrophe: it is Stephen Zantec, international
terrorist. At the police station, Mike and Skims meet Captain Sam Shepard, who announced that they are both invited to a
birthday party for Lily, daughter of Chelo, a former colleague.
Mike and Skims arrive at the party, the latter
shows a rose, Chelo reminds her daughter that Bill worked in tandem with his father but Lily seems to know quite well
(of fame) Skims, who is also a computer expert. Lily also loves the computer and show the detectives his great computer
equipment. After the party accompanying Mike Skims housing destinatagli the police department. Skims is a fruit basket
as a gift and an audio tape, which immediately put on the stereo. However, Mike realizes that something is wrong and

Trama:
Dopo "sette anni, tre mesi e una settimana" di assenza, il detective Bill
Skims (Hill) torna a Miami da Washington e ad attenderlo all'aeroporto c'è il suo collega Mike (Hagler). In auto, i
due vengono attaccati da una banda armata ma restano illesi; gettatisi all'inseguimento degli assalitori, con qualche
peripezia riescono a catturarne uno: si tratta di Stephen Zantec, terrorista internazionale. Alla stazione di polizia,
Mike e Skims incontrano il capitano Sam Shepard, che annuncia loro che sono entrambi invitati ad un party per il
compleanno di Lily, figlia di Chelo, ex collega.
Mike e Skims arrivano alla festa; quest'ultimo si presenta con una
rosa, Chelo ricorda alla sua bambina che Bill lavorava in coppia con suo padre ma Lily sembra conoscere piuttosto bene
(di fama) Skims, che è anche esperto di computer. Anche Lily ama l'informatica e mostra al detective la sua grande
attrezzatura informatica. Dopo il party Mike accompagna Skims all'abitazione destinatagli dal dipartimento di polizia.
Skims trova un cesto di frutta e un'audiocassetta come omaggio, che inserisce subito nello stereo. Mike però si
accorge che qualcosa non va e seguito dal compagno si allontana rapidamente dall'abitazione, che dopo pochi secondi
esplode. È il secondo attentato alla vita di Skims, che si lamenta per telefono con il suo superiore di Washington,
il colonnello Slide: a volerlo morto è un terrorista, Van Axel, e Skims è tornato a Miami proprio per catturarlo,
ma per ora non può parlarne con nessuno.
Con un interrogatorio molto convincente presso un'autodemolizioni, Mike
e Skims riescono a sapere da Zantec che Van Axel si trova in una tenuta sulla costa, a Sud della città, ed ha
intenzione di organizzare un party. I due si introducono alla festa: Skims si spaccia per barman e prepara alcuni
Bellini con esiti abbastanza maldestri, Mike invece è più a suo agio come suonatore di maracas. Skims riesce ad
ascoltare un meeting di affari di Van Axel, in cui quest'ultimo presenta a potenziali compratori l'esplosivo XR4000,
potentissimo e difficile da individuare. Viene scoperto, ma grazie all'aiuto di Mike e di una vecchietta dotata di
insospettabile mira con la pistola riesce a liberarsi degli uomini di Van Axel. La polizia tenta di arrestare
quest'ultimo recandosi in forze nella tenuta, ma il criminale è sparito. Skims deve uscire a cena con Chelo e accetta
la proposta di trasferirsi a casa sua; poi stringe un patto con Lily rivelandole la sua missione segreta e reclutandola
come consulente informatico.
Frattanto Van Axel, spacciatosi per un fantomatico Mister X, riesce a demolire un
palazzo servendosi del suo potentissimo esplosivo: poco prima dell'esplosione si sente lo stesso brano che aveva
preceduto lo scoppio della casa di Skims. Lily registra l'accaduto ed analizza la scena con le sue apparecchiature
insieme a Skims. Riescono a capire che all'interno del brano musicale ci sono alcuni ultrasuoni che innescano
l'esplosivo, ma c'è ancora il problema di capire dove questo sia stato piazzato. Si tiene un briefing in polizia. Il
colonnello Slide, arrivato a Miami, spiega a tutti la natura della missione di Skims, mentre Mike annuncia che sono
stati scoperti i depositi delle armi di Van Axel. I due poliziotti tentano un blitz notturno nell'impianto, e riescono a
scoprire la riserva di esplosivo. Vengono però incastrati da Van Axel, che controlla l'edificio da una postazione
informatica. Skims fa partire la musica con gli ultrasuoni per far esplodere la riserva, allora il criminale tenta di
chiudere dentro entrambi. Mike riesce ad uscire dall'edificio per il rotto della cuffia. Non così Skims che rimane
coinvolto nella tremenda esplosione.
Skims è dato per morto, e la notizia è un duro colpo per Chelo e Lily.
Quest'ultima nota però qualcosa di strano nei suoi computer: è proprio Skims, che compare prima all'interno di un
videogioco e poi esce letteralmente fuori dall'elaboratore. È diventato un ologramma, capace di passare attraverso i
muri e viaggiare istantaneamente da un posto all'altro tramite la linea telefonica. Chelo e Mike, inizialmente
increduli, alla fine riconoscono il nuovo "detective virtuale". Intanto Zantec esce grazie al lavoro degli avvocati di
Van Axel, e decide di rapire Lily per ricattare Mike. La bambina viene portata sul Leba, lo yacht di Van Axel. Con la
scusa di un videogame riesce a farsi dare un computer, e in men che non si dica Skims si ritrova nell'imbarcazione. Il
"vendicatore silenzioso" inverte la rotta riportando la barca nelle acque territoriali, ne trasmette alla polizia la
posizione e sgomina gli uomini di Van Axel. Dopo che Mike sventa un ultimo inganno ordito dal criminale, tutto sembra
risolto. Ma ad un certo punto, lo Skims virtuale sembra stare male e quindi scompare.
Il motivo è presto detto:
nel luogo dell'esplosione è stato ritrovato il detective ancora vivo ma in stato di incoscienza, e la rianimazione ha
portato alla scomparsa dell'alter ego virtuale. Skims ruba un'autoambulanza per raggiungere i suoi amici, ma un'auto
della polizia lo intercetta: sono proprio Mike, Chelo e Lily. Skims e Chelo si baciano, mentre Mike e Lily finiscono a
dirigere bizzarramente il traffico con una sorta di ballo.
