has already begun). Maybe when I'm gone, I'll be remembered as "the guy who was always revising" ...
but no matter. Two uploads will be added with new and previous material (not to mention all the other uploads tagged for
eventual revision).

I've been living with many of the recordings in these Russian collections for a long
time - most of them have not in the least worn out with the years - and so I feel a sort of obligation to present them
in the best sound I'm capable of. The new needles I've recently acquired have already promised to my
satisfaction to be able to help me accomplish this. 

I lived through the first Cold War, The Cuban Missle
Crisis, McCarthyism, etc. In comparison to the present moment, however, the 1950's - early 1960's stands out
in my memory as a remarkable and rare period of openness and dialogue together with many genuine attempts at
understanding what is foreign to us. Finally, to say that I've never seen in my life such mean-spiritedness as our
time exhibits on a daily basis is a real understatement (OK, there are many reasons for this which don't need to be
elaborated here...).

Nevertheless, during the 1950's - early 1960's, things like art, literature
and music functioned as valuable bridges between people (even when the obvious function for these "bridges"
was often for nationalist or political propaganda on all sides) ... but now these previously "lofty things"
usually only attract any attention when a huge dollar sign is attached to them.

As far as my uploads of
Russian music from the 1950's - early 1960's ... what else can I do? ... that is, outside of remember and
remind people that (in my experience, at least) conditions only change for the better only when we really
want them to.
