In een handelsdispuut tussen de handelsfederatie en de planeet Naboo worden Jedimeester
Qui-Gon Jinn en zijn leerling Obi-Wan Kenobi erop uitgestuurd als onderhandelaars. Samen
met de jonge Koningin Amidala, en de Gungan Jar Jar Binks moeten ze proberen te
voorkomen dat de handelsfederatie de vredige planeet Naboo verovert. Tijdens hun reis
komen ze terecht op de planeet Tatooinewaar ze de jonge Anakin Skywalker tegenkomen.
Qui-Gon en Obi-Wan Kenobi zien in hem een mogelijk Jedi...
