Synopsis: In this western, a troubled, battle-weary youth must somehow put his life together after he is discharged
from Roosevelt's Rough Riders. His father wants him to take over the family ranch, but the son is still too haunted by

war's horrors to care. Instead he begins wandering aimlessly until he gets involved with a battered wife. He takes
care of her abuser and eventually falls in love with her. It is her love that finally helps him heal. (All Movie

User Review: RKO's post World War II Tim Holt/Richard Martin series produced some of the best
B-westerns of the '40s, and this was one, supposedly the first movie 
in which a father and son played a father and
son (former leading man Jack Holt and son Tim). Way ahead of its time, it deals with everything from the generation gap
to spouse abuse. The hero even falls for a married woman, normally a no-no in formula series westerns. What's more, he
doesn't win a single fight -- but he still comes out on top. Great cast, including Paul Hurst (Monte Hale's movie
sidekick), Robert Bray (of future "Lassie" fame), Steve Brodie, and Richard Martin as Chito Jose Gonzales Bustamonte
Rafferty, a role he had in three series (the earlier ones being with Robert Mitchum and James Warren). (imdb.com)

Note: The beautiful Nan Leslie, who co-starred in six Tim Holt B-westerns, is incredible in this film as the
battered wife. As well as her on-screen husband Steve Brodie. Nan Leslie and Tim Holt were an "item" at one time and
their 
moments together in front of the camera, especially in this film, reflect such a beautiful poignancy and
tenderness.

In an interview Ms. Leslie commented how serious Tim was in this film, explaining that Tim adored
and admired his father. Working with his father was a great honor, but he was also a young man who very much wanted to
please his father. Jack Holt, a star in his own right of another generation, was a hero to his son and had mighty big
boots to fill. 

This significant film has many subtle moments between the actors rarely seen in the lower
budget B-westerns. Enjoy!
