[color=blue] In una retata compiuta a Villa Borghese dalla
squadra della buon costume, viene arrestata dall'agente-autista Caccavallo una giovane di paese, Carolina. La ragazza,
che precedentemente aveva ingerito una forte dose di sonnifero, sviene durante l'interrogatorio al commissariato. Il
commissario affida la giovane a Caccavallo, perché la porti all'ospedale e la sorvegli, essendone personalmente
responsabile. L'arresto di Carolina è stato un errore, giacché la ragazza si trovava per caso a Villa Borghese, e
il commissario teme la reazione della stampa, che già s'è occupata del tentato suicidio. Caccavallo viene poi
incaricato di ricondurre Carolina al suo paese e di trovare lì qualcuno cui affidarla: durante il viaggio in jeep
l'agente è continuamente preoccupato dal pensiero che la ragazza possa ancora una volta tentare il suicidio. Dopo
qualche peripezia i due giungono al paese e Caccavallo conduce, prima di tutto, la ragazza dal Parroco, al quale essa
confida di essere incinta. Vengono fatti alcuni tentativi per sistemare Carolina, ma nessuno vuol saperne di accoglierla
in casa sua, neppure certi suoi lontani parenti. L'agente è quindi costretto a riportarsela a Roma. Nel viaggio di
ritorno, avendo arrestato un ladruncolo, Caccavallo spera di liberarsi di Carolina, consentendo tacitamente la sua fuga
col ladro. Ma questi non si fida e Carolina, per facilitare la fuga, colpisce Caccavallo con una paletta: il ladro,
spaventato, fugge, mentre Carolina, pentita e impietosita, rimane con l'agente. Giunto a Roma, Caccavallo dichiara al
commissario di aver tutto sistemato: porterà infatti Carolina a casa sua, dove, essendo rimasto vedovo con un
figlioletto, ha bisogno di una donna.

In a raid carried out by the team at Villa Borghese of morality, is
