This is one of the better Uncut CDs if only because the good tracks are very good indeed. Opening
with a very urgent live version of The Waterboys' Medicine Bow, the near-perfect driving pop of Delays at track 3,
followed by Blanche w/Jack White's tale of unrequited love at track 4 with Who's to Say. Further in the atmospheric
Icebound Stream from Laura Viers features some lovely cello and percussive effects, the sweet and melodic Saint Simon
from The Shins with its sublime outro, the gritty funk of Dirty by Earth, Wind and Fire, some Sparksesque Mayhem from
Bobby Conn and the Glass Gypsies (We Come in Peace) and the fragile Mona Lisa by Grant-Lee Phillips. 

There
are a few average/passable tunes - Tell Her Tonight (Franz Ferdinand), Polaroid (Richmond Fontaine) Afterlife (Todd
Rundgren) and Goodbye Suzie (John Howard) and some annoying filler from the overrated somnambulist Lambchop, and the
irritating americana of Tonight We Ride. The final track doesn't work for me either.   

I found it to be a
good introduction to a number of fine and obscure bands, and still gets a regular spin on my playlist
