Wacky Races is an animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The series features 11 different
cars racing against each other in various road rallies, with each driver hoping to win the title of the "World's
Wackiest Racer." Wacky Races ran on CBS  from September 14, 1968 to January 4, 1969. Seventeen episodes were produced,
with each episode featuring two different races, for a total of 34 races in all.

The cartoon was unusual in
the large number of regular characters, twenty-four in total: the twenty-three people and animals spread among the 11
race cars, plus the unseen (and never identified) race announcer. Another unusual feature of the series is that the
stars of the show are the villains as opposed to the heroes. Reruns of the series currently air several times a day on
Cartoon Network's classic animation network Boomerang.

Fra i maggiori successi Hanna
Barbera, questo cartone è ispirato ad alcuni film quali "Monte Carlo" , "Bust", "The Great Race", e narra le vicende
di undici bizzarri e pazzi team con altrettante e non da meno auto da corsa alla ricerca disperata (e con ogni mezzo) di
una vittoria. Le varie gare sono ambientate ciascuna in una zona caratteristica degli States, dalle paludi del
Mississipi ai passi del Rocky Mountain, e rapprsentano un nuovo stimolo ai piloti per sfoderare geniali e sorprendenti
tecniche di gara. Solo uno fra i tanti concorrenti non si fa scrupolo dei propri mezzi ricorrendo sempre a stratagemmi e
trucchi "al limite del regolamento": si tratta di Dick Dastardly aiutato dal fedele Muttley soprannominato il
"diabolico" a causa dei suoi perversi schemi di gara. Riuscirà il maldestro Dastardly nel suo scopo? Lo scopriremo
guardando gli episodi di questo meraviglioso cartone!!! Curiosità: questa serie ha dato spunto alla nascita di altri
due cartoni, "The perils of Penelope Pitstop" (le avventure di Penelope Pitstop) e la fortunatissima "Dastardly and
Muttley in their flying machines" (ovvero lo Squadrone Avvoltoi).
